Rae Pendergrass is the primary communications liaison to ESnet.

Prior to joining Berkeley Lab, Pendergrass was a freelance writer, science communicator, and educational event producer. They have written for Popular Science, Reader's Digest, HowStuffWorks, Martha Stewart Living, and Eater. They’ve produced informal educational programming for The Smithsonian, National Geographic, Atlas Obscura, Georgia Tech, Georgia Aquarium, and the Folger Shakespeare Library

They are the former the assistant director of the DragonCon Science Track, and created programming for the Atlanta Science Festival, as well as the founder and producer of the internationally-touring Solve for X science variety show, and currently produce and host the informal lecture series Nerd Nite DC.
