Edison Electrifies Scientific Computing
The National Energy Research Scientific Computing (NERSC) Center recently accepted “Edison,” a new flagship supercomputer designed for scientific productivity. The Cray XC30 will be dedicated in a ceremony held at the Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) on Feb. 5, and scientists are already reporting results. Deployments of Network Monitoring Software perfSONAR Hit 1,000
In January 2014, perfSONAR reached a milestone with 1,000 instances of the diagnostic software installed on networking hosts around the U.S. and in 13 other countries. perfSONAR is a joint effort between the ESnet, Fermilab and SLAC; and Georgia Tech, Indiana University, Internet2 and the University of Delaware.
