Bonnie Powell
I am the communications lead for Energy Sciences Network (ESnet), the DOE's user facility providing high-performance networking and advanced services for scientific research. From 2011 to 2021 I was director of communications for a $1.6B corporation, followed by a small social justice nonprofit. I began my career as an editor and reporter at Red Herring, covering the business of technology, then worked for UC Berkeley's College of Engineering and later, Public Affairs, as a Web reporter, before going freelance. I have written or edited for Wired, the San Francisco Chronicle, the New York Times, Mother Jones, Sierra, Grist, Edible San Francisco, the Transcript, Corporate Board Member, and elsewhere. I have a B.A. in English from the College of William & Mary and an M.A. in fiction from the University of East Anglia.
