Looking for pathways for your post-graduate professional future? The Berkeley Lab fields two fellowships for graduates. Both the Luis W. Alvarez Fellowship in Computing and the Admiral Grace Hopper Fellowship in Computing offer exceptional opportunities to graduates who wish to pursue their own research interests under the mentorship of Berkeley Lab scientists.

We also host U.S. Department of Energy Computing Sciences Graduate Fellows every year and offer many other postdoctoral research opportunities.

Since its founding in 2002, Berkeley Lab’s Luis W. Alvarez Fellowship has supported researchers excited by high-performance computing and the DOE Office of Science mission. Alvarez Fellows have delved deep into computational modeling, simulations, and advanced data analytics.

The Admiral Grace Hopper Fellowship was established in 2015 to assist young computational scientists who want to contribute to HPC applications. Hopper Fellows conduct research on advanced algorithms, software techniques, and networking.

Established in 1991, the Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF) provides outstanding benefits and opportunities to students pursuing doctoral degrees in fields that use high-performance computing to solve complex science and engineering problems.
