Sophia Pasadis, Advanced Computing For Sciences Department

This month, Sophia Pasadis joins the Computational Research Division’s (CRD’s) Advanced Computing for Sciences (ACS) Department as an Administrative Assistant III. Before coming to Berkeley Lab, Pasadis was a Marketing Specialist at Publishers Group West, a book distribution company based in Berkeley, Ca.

“I have over six years professional experience supporting executives and meeting a wide range of administrative and client (independent publishers) needs,” says Pasadis.

A native of Sonoma County, Pasadis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Sonoma State University in 2005. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and practicing yoga, hiking and being outdoors.

“I love the Bay Area. Whenever I lived in other locations, I have always felt drawn to come back. We have so much variety—great parks, one of the most famous cities in the world, Wine Country… the list goes on and on,” says Pasadis. “This is a very special place to live and work - I feel lucky to have grown up here.”

About Computing Sciences at Berkeley Lab

High performance computing plays a critical role in scientific discovery. Researchers increasingly rely on advances in computer science, mathematics, computational science, data science, and large-scale computing and networking to increase our understanding of ourselves, our planet, and our universe. Berkeley Lab’s Computing Sciences Area researches, develops, and deploys new foundations, tools, and technologies to meet these needs and to advance research across a broad range of scientific disciplines.
